A favourite author, we love Eva Ibbotson!  This book is a fun fantasy adventure full of fantastical creatures and mythical monsters- 'We must kidnap some children,' announced Aunt Etta. Sophia loved this book, suitable for both girls and boys. An epic adventure. Series of books suitable for both girls and boys! Not your usual unicorn story...Sophia raced through this book, an epic adventure! 

Large series of vampire book for girls who want to read about young love and innocent first romances. From 8/9 onwards I would say. Sienna Mercer is a Canadian author so lots of references to high school and cheerleaders which Sophia liked although I found it hard to read aloud so one for solo reading.

Series of short books, light hearted fun. Filled with silly spells, delectable dresses, ridiculous riddles and a serious shoe problem,.

The first book in the Bad Mermaids series for kids aged 7+. Mermaids Beattie, Mimi and Zelda are enjoying a summer on land with legs when they receive a strange CRABAGRAM ordering them to return home at once. Some BAD MERMAIDS are on the loose and the girls are the only ones who can stop them. Perfect for solo-reading, Sophia loved this series.
