...by The School of Life. "When you are in a bad mood, you usually want to blame someone. You feel fed up and annoyed and your brain looks around to see whose fault it could be—your teacher, your parents, your friends, maybe your brother or sister. But sometimes it’s not really anyone’s fault. Instead, there’s a very different kind of explanation. Nothing is really wrong at all, you are just feeling grumpy and bothered because you haven’t been getting enough sleep and you are tired."
How many stars are in the night sky? Why don't animals wear clothes? Do plants have feelings? Why are bubbles always round? Could I ever touch a rainbow? Why can't I remember being a baby?
Another by the Scholl of Life. It is a book about finding interesting words for interesting feelings. It explores what lots of feeling words really mean and which words best describe the many feelings a child may have. The book discusses 20 different feelings from happy to mischievous.

Three farmers are hunting a family of Foxes and the Foxes must try and escape. It is a story of survival against all odds, hope, and friendship. It's superbly written and an all-time classic.
"Daddy" she said, "do you think you could buy me a book?". "A book?" he said. "what do you want a flaming book for?"
The horrible headteacher Miss Trunchbull thinks all children are rotten and awful, but the adults in the book are the ones who are awful and rotten. The book shows us just how extraordinary children can be, and how the powerless can become powerful and overcome adversity.

Horrid Henry is 10 years old and lives with his mum and dad and brother Peter. He is generally disagreeable and horrid (!) but the stories are well-paced and funny. I can sympathise with the parents! Trigger warning: some light 'bad behaviour' but gentle enough to still be funny and my kids have never copied the behaviour in the book, rather its an example of how not to behave...
Meet Dirty Bertie – a boy with nose-pickingly disgusting habits... He's full to bursting with madcap plans and crazy ideas, and if it's trouble you're after, look no further – Bertie's sure to be up to his neck in it. Trigger warning does have lots of references to worms, bogeys, wee and general naughty behaviour but is gentle enough to still be fun and none threatening. I love reading these stories to the kids as we have a giggle and they are not boring to read.

It's got a giant catapult, a secret underground laboratory, a tank of man-eating sharks and a marshmallow machine that follows you around and shoots marshmallows into your mouth whenever you're hungry...Sophia really enjoyed this series but for me its very samey and impossible to read aloud, one for reading alone. Lots of pictures and fun to read for kids. Big series of books if liked.

Green has no complaints, but Orange and Yellow are no longer speaking to each other. The battle lines have been drawn. What is Duncan to do?
This book has won so many awards and we love it! We read it all the time as a family, a great opportunity to do different voices. Great for anyone who can relate to having a favourite toy.
